A Tribute to My Beloved Father My dear Daddy, (Papa Amun), you were a great man. Thank you for everything you did for me and for your family as a whole. From my cradle, you taught me how to love God, love people, and forgive others. You did not teach these things with words alone. You lived them before us every day. Through your life, you showed me that having a personal relationship with God is what truly matters. You taught me to pray and study the Word of God. At the age of thirteen, you introduced me to midnight prayers. I still practise this today, and it has helped me through many difficult seasons of my life. When I was wrong, you continued to love me. You never rejected, disowned, or cast me aside. You corrected me and lovingly drew me back to yourself. Whenever you disciplined me, you explained why. Your correction was never meant to destroy me. It was meant to guide me. Thank you for being such a selfless father. You gave us your all and showed us that kindness is one of the greatest gifts we can offer humanity. One experience that stuck with me was the day one of my brothers was wrongfully arrested. When you returned from work, I was angry and expected you to react with anger too. After I told you what had happened, you went straight down on your knees and began to thank God. I never heard you talk about it or react to the people who did this malicious act. Your response touched me deeply, and that memory has remained with me to this day. ( I need a double portion of that spirit). Even in a painful situation, your first response was to turn to God. Daddy, it was not only what I heard in church that made me want to serve God and live a holy life. It was what I saw in you. You gave me a living example of faith, love, forgiveness, kindness, prayer, and devotion to the Word of God. You taught me how to hear from God. You told me that whatever God says is final, regardless of what others may say or my circumstances, and you lived by it. You stood firmly upon the truth, even if it meant you were the only one standing. I want to follow this legacy. You never forced us to do anything. You prayed for us, advised us, and encouraged us. Because of the example you gave me, I have chosen to serve the Lord. I have chosen to love God and show kindness to humanity. I pray that God will help me to walk in your footsteps. May I carry forward your love, forgiveness, kindness, prayer life, devotion to Scripture, and obedience to the voice of God. My father, I miss you deeply. I do not know what life will be like without you or how I will continue this journey without your presence. Yet I find comfort in knowing that you are with Jesus. You often spoke about making heaven. ( Ao de orun) Today, I believe you are there, resting in the presence of the Lord you loved and served so faithfully. I know that one day we shall meet again, in a place where there will be no sorrow, death, or parting. Thank you for your love, Papa. Thank you for your sacrifices. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for the life you lived before us. Until we meet again, rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus. I love you, Daddy, and I will always miss you.

“He taught me Taught me to love.”
