A Personal Relationship with God

Papa, thank you for teaching me from childhood how to seek God and recognize His voice. Thank you for showing me that the greatest inheritance a father can give his children is not merely what he leaves for them, but the God he teaches them to know for themselves. You taught us to develop a personal relationship with God, to trust His Word, to obey His commandments, and to remember that He has a purpose for each of our lives. Thank you for the countless prayers you prayed for us—many of which we may never fully know. Thank you for standing in the gap for your wife, your children, your grandchildren, and the people God placed around you. Most importantly, thank you for trying to live before us the life you preached. Your desire was not simply to succeed in this world, but to live a Christlike life with eternity in view and to finish your journey faithfully with heaven as your destination. Your voice may now be silent, but the truths you planted in me remain. I will remember: Know God for yourself. Listen for His voice. Obey His Word. Trust His plan. Pray continually. Follow Christ faithfully. And live with eternity in view. Papa, these are not merely words you taught me. They are part of the spiritual inheritance you have left within me. Thank you for praying for us. Thank you for pointing us to God. Thank you for reminding us that our lives have purpose. Thank you for showing us where to place our faith. The God you taught me to know is still my God. The God you prayed to is still God. And by His grace, I will carry forward what you planted in me. Rest well, Papa. Your son, Emmanuel
